THE ANGER DEMON WITHIN US

BG 16.21: There are three gates leading to the hell of self-destruction for the soul—lust, anger, and greed. Therefore, one should abandon all three.

Anger is one of the 7 Deadly Sins.

And this is the same in all cultures and people.

Anger will never get you anywhere. In fact, it will rob you of your gifts, your best qualities and lead you straight down to hell.

Hell, meaning that it will deny you of the opportunities of making good relationships, lead you to being fired from your job and may even rob you of the chance to succeed in something you deserve.

Anger is a demonic force - with the power to topple over the most well-intentioned of people. And after the worst is over and you are sane again, anger will lead you to eternal regret and self-questioning. That is the worst of all when your guilt starts stabbing away at you and there is nothing you can do about it to assuage your pathetic attempts to turn the clock back. Joining a Bhagavad Gita class may help but you still have to do the work.

Once you have let the demonic anger out, it is too late.

Yes, my dear friend, there are demons that you cannot see as these powerful emotions like anger, lust, greed and sloth can rob you of the sense of judgement and sanity.

What can you do to rid yourself of it?

Firstly, Be Aware.

Admit to yourself that you have an anger demon inside of you that threatens to control you.

Secondly, open up and talk to a trusted person about it.

Maybe a third person’s view may help. At our Bhagavad Gita classes for adults, we have a gentle chat from time to time about our emotions.

Thirdly, join a class or group that distracts you from such unpleasant thoughts. Give yourself a chance and join a group. Gita classes for adults can be more of a help than you think.

This is just for a start. I will have more on this topic later. Just dwell on these points for now and try the First and Second tips. Good luck!
