KEEP AWAY FROM ENERGY VAMPIRES

In Chapter 12, Verse 15, the Bhagavad Gita tells us never to annoy anyone but by the same token, to walk away from someone who annoys you. "The ideal devotee is one who is neither a source of annoyance to anyone nor agitated by anyone."

Energy vampires are the ones who annoy you, bug you or keep coming close to you and asking you for information constantly are energy vampires. Of course there may be some positive encounters of those who ask you for info, but to be constantly nagging at you … well that is definitely the work of an energy vampire. Who are these Energy Vampires?

Energy vampires are people who want what you have. They are secretly smitten with your gifts, your talent, your path, your home, your work, your networking and in short even the way you look.

They cannot have what you have. They can work for what they want but they are so riddled with angst as you have already achieved it before them, that they cannot let go of this thought. Energy vampires are people who want short cuts. They want the easy way out.

They will either try to take something from you or if that does not work, they will stop you from getting what you should get. During our Bhagavad Gita classes, we have frequent discourses on people who annoy you.

What do Energy Vampires do?

They may come in the most pleasing of packages. They could even have the sweetest of voices, the most beguiling smiles and the most persuasive words but their one trademark is that they will keep trying to know what you are doing.

They will want to know where you are going, where you went, whom you spoke to and whom you know.

Their intention is to be as close to you as possible but they are not your friends.

Children and adults may be susceptible to them. I constantly reiterate during my Bhagavad Gita classes for children, that you have to be careful whom you talk to.

An Energy Vampire’s Tell-tale signs

One of the tell-tale signs of an energy vampire is that they appear to be helping you but in truth, they are helping themselves.

You might be excused for this delusion. You may actually believe they are kind to you as they are there all the time.

But ask yourself this question.

Are they there for You or for Themselves?

Yes, you may be excused for asking, ‘can such people really exist’?

I am so sorry to say this. Yes, they do.

Right now, the only action you need to take is to protect yourself.

Make some excuses and never reveal where you are.

If they catch you regardless, make an urgent excuse and leave.

Never have a head on collision with them, it is too exhausting.
